The small pricking thoughts of worry that make us feel frustrated and anxious pop up from time to time are mental invaders. Many of my readers asked me to explain the worry well technique, which I mentioned in one of my blogs (my pen stopped writing). This blog is for all who worry and desperately seek a solution to stop worrying.

An unwanted intrusion of a thought, a memory, a concern, an image, or anything can be worrisome.

The stress can be of any reason :

The spontaneous nature of these worries makes us believe in them and feel negative and anxious. But we need to understand that worrying is a part of life, and we cannot control these intrusive thoughts coming into our heads. The following steps help us tackle these worries so that our distress is reduced considerably.

  1. Acknowledge your worries.
  2. Write them down.
  3. Address them.
  4. Check whether the worry is rational or irrational.
  5. Rub it off if it is illogical.
  6. Find a solution if it is rational.
  7. Make a plan to tackle your worry.

Straightforward methods to manage anxiety and stop worrying is :

“The STOP Method”
“The Worry Well Technique”

The above two CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy) techniques help us to manage our worries and intrusive fears. It is always better to write them down to plan and focus on finding an answer. If the worry returns, you will feel the relief that a plan is there in action.

Acknowledging worry, which is not in our control, can be viewed from a different angle to make us feel comfortable.

A worry-free life is not the solution, but managing it is.

We must understand that we cannot control or eliminate these sticky, unwanted thoughts of worry.
