3 ways to practice faithful living

Life is an adventure, a journey with threats, fears, rejections, failures, and challenges. When your faith becomes more prominent than your fears, you can live a better and more fulfilling life.

Faith is a complete trust or confidence in something or someone. One can’t have hope about anything without ‘faith.’ The virtues of improving faith are optimism, goodness, clarity, and upliftment.

One of the best ways to improve faith in your life is through prayers. Other than prayers, let us explore how to overcome our fears with faith:

1. Replace fear with faith:

  • Have faith in humanity.
  • Consciously use positive self-affirmations to conquer unrealistic fears.
  • Practicing humility to perceive others without biases and prejudices in a nonjudgemental way helps improve ‘faith’ in others.
  • Respecting others’ preferences and perceptions reduces unimportant anxieties.

2. Mindful exercises

  • Live in the present. The past is already gone, and the future is yet to come.
  • Do day-to-day activities using all your sensory organs: eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and skin (touch).
  • Mindful activities do not let your thoughts wander freely; instead, it ties you to the present. For example, while cooking, taste the ingredients while understanding their colors, different textures, cutting them into different shapes. Enjoy the aroma and the sound it creates during the process.

3. Use the STOPP technique

  • Stop the fear/ the negative thought.
  • Take a deep breath.
  • Observe what your fear is and identify the vicious cycle of anxiety, anger, sadness around it.
  • Perspective change: think differently and ask for evidence.
  • Practice, take action; what is the best thing to do here?

Have faith in the supreme power!

Have faith in yourself!

Have faith in fellow individuals!

Have faith in the universe!
