A Thank You Note!

Recently, I found a very old book. My father had scribbled a snippet in Malayalam around 40 years ago.

My translation of this piece of wisdom is as follows:

The following seven virtues will provide you with accomplishments, emancipation, and peace of mind. The virtues are

Honesty {truth}

Equality {fairness}

Empathy

Composure

Cooperation

Friendly nature

Kindness { goodness}

My father is completing 80 years on this beautiful planet this month.

On his 80th birthday, I thank him for teaching me these virtues and many more.

This is my gratitude to the man who stood by me during my turbulent life journey. My father taught me to believe in humanity and made me practice humility. His moral lessons and insights made me what I am today.

1992

Though I am not sure whether I made him proud or not, I always feel proud to be born his daughter. For this, some of my friends envy me openly even today. He is my all-time mentor, and I haven’t thanked him enough for teaching me to face the challenging life smilingly.

A self-made man raised by a great woman without any affluence or family legacy, reaching these accomplishments is commendable. I can go on bragging about my father and his achievements, though he would humbly dismiss them.

His nonmaterialistic attitude does not allow me to buy him a gift, instead, I want to convey my sincere gratitude to him.
